Congregation Retreats for Brothers


The first and principal duty of all religious is to be the contemplation of things divine and constant union with God in prayer….They are faithfully to observe the period of annual retreat.

(Code of Canon Law: Canon 663, #1 & #5).

The CLT, in collaboration with the two Province Leadership Teams, have organised retreats for both the Anglo-Irish and the West Africa Provinces in July/August and November this year.  Below are details of the retreats:


West Africa Province:

            Date:               July 29 – August 4, 2018

            Venue:             Diocesan Retreat Centre, Sunyani

            Led By:           Fr. Ronald J. McAinsh, C.Ss.R

            Theme:            “Pilgrim Brothers with the Compassionate Christ”


Anglo-Irish Province:

            Date:               November 8 – 14, 2018

            Venue:             Mount St. Anne’s, Co. Laois

            Led By:           Fr. Jim McManus, C.Ss.R

            Theme:            “Spirituality in Later Life”


About the two priests:


Fr. Ronald McAinshC.Ss.R is a Redemptorist priest.  He is the Provincial of the London Province.  He is an experienced preacher of retreats to religious.  He is also a Chapter facilitator, a former formator and an experienced counsellor.


Fr. Jim McManus C.Ss.R is also a Redemptorist priest.  He is a retreat preacher, an author and a lecturer.  He is based in St. Mary’s, Kinnoull, Scotland.
